DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase Emerges As A Preeminent Sport Aviation Event

Meanwhile, The DeLand Municipal Airport Is On A Mission

No one has to tell you that the aviation business is a fascinating road to follow… especially if you’re one of the visionaries that is attempting to bring aviators together to showcase the best the industry has to offer at one of the few venues that focuses on the most affordable, if not the most rewarding, aspects of civil aviation.

All about ‘experiencing the fun side of flying’, the 2019 DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase (DSAS) is poised for great things this fall, November 14-16, 2019.

DSAS is THE annual, three-day event that has put its focus on recreational and sport aviation. Held at the DeLand Municipal Airport (KDED) in DeLand, FL, the weather in early November is perfect for a fun Florida flying-centric weekend.

More than one hundred exhibitors annually feature an amazing assortment sport aircraft, ultralights, trikes, biplanes, rotorcraft, powered parachutes and paragliders, engines, avionics, pilot gear and flight schools. There are opportunities to get up close and personal with the aircraft and the companies that build them, as well as to enjoy actual demonstration flights, interactive workshops, educational forums, keynote speakers, food concessions, live music, underwing camping, pre-owned aircraft sales, and more! And best of all, its solid family entertainment, all in the quaint and historic town of DeLand, voted America’s Best MainStreet just last year.

One of the keys to the success and prominence of the DSAS is the DeLand Municipal Airport, itself, which is on a mission to become the center for sport aviation in the southeast United States.

Already home to U-Fly-It/Aerolite 103, T.O.M.I. Aircraft, as well as Chief Aircraft, AeroAdventure/WingBug, the Skydive DeLand operation, and some 35 parachute industry businesses, the DeLand Municipal Airport has BIG plans to bring together aviation leaders, general aviation enthusiasts, and youth interested in sport aviation, all with the intent to enhance and promote recreational aviation – of all kinds.  Also at KDED, the RC Club celebrated 25 on years the DeLand Airport campus just this year, as well as the DeLand Naval Air Station Museum that is always a highlight stop for all ages.

Totally committed to the welfare of the sport aviation community, DeLand Municipal Airport has added an exciting new venture -- The Sport Aviation Village, a year-round commerce park for the sport aviation industry. With special emphasis on homebuilts and light-sport aircraft, DeLand Municipal Airport is developing the Sport Aviation Village in several stages, each designed to support the Sport Aviation industry in different ways.

The DeLand Municipal Airport just completed the Infrastructure of Phases 1A and 1B  of its Sport Aviation Village. Phase 1 includes six building sites for commercial-use hangars, Phase 1B will see 30 additional T-hangars and an additional 3-4 building sites.  Phases 2 and 3 will realize building sites for larger facilities.

The DeLand Airport has realized $7.1m recently, to include a 6,000 sq. ft. Administration Building, and rehab and extension of the South Ramp.  A Fuel Farm will be in the design phase for 2020 as well as the rehabilitation of both the East and the West Ramps.

So… whether you’re looking for THE Fall Venue for all things sport aviation or a proper home for your aviation business, the DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase and the DeLand Municipal Airport’s Sport Aviation Village are options you need to consider as part of your sport aviation activities.
