'Fed Up' Former JetBlue FA Completes Substance Abuse Treatment

Steven Slater Must Repay Airline For His Antics

Steven Slater became something of an Internet celebrity after he swore over a JetBlue airplane intercom, grabbed a couple of beers, popped an emergency chute, and slid from the jet to the ranks of the unemployed in August of last year. At the time, Slater said he was "fed up" with his job ... which he obviously no longer has.

USA Today reports that Slater has just completed his court-ordered rehab program. But he's still on the hook for $10,000 the judge said he had to reimburse JetBlue for opening the emergency slide. He is reportedly paying $831.25 a month to the Department of Probation for his antics, according to Long Island's Newsday.

The Associated Press quoted Slater as saying the incident "was not indicative of who I am."

The Daily News says Slaters' home on in New York was "destroyed" by hurricane Irene, and that he is planning to move to California and write a memoir about his 20 years in the airline industry.
