Cessna Citation XLS Gen2 Graduates To Delivery

Straight Outta Wichita! Cessna Citation XLS Gen2 Is On The Loose

Textron Aviation Inc (TAI) recently received FAA type certification for its newest business jet, the Cessna Citation XLS Gen 2, and a lucky long-time operation was the recipient for the first unit off the production line.

According to Mr. Lannie O’Bannion, Senior VP, Global Sales & Flight Operations, “loyal Citation customers inspire us to continually invest in bringing the latest design and technology to our product line.”

The XLS Gen 2, tagline is ’designed to disrupt the skies’, represents a redesign based in feedback from customers, and also includes upgrades to the technology. An obvious improvement is the lighted airstair door, cabin access entry curtain for inclement weather protection, improved acoustics, accent lighting. Additionally, perhaps not so obvious…a cabin management system sporting touchscreen moving map display, wireless device charging, USB charging at each seat.

TAI’s XLS2 retains many of the same performance characteristics of the XLS+ in terms of 441kt cruise speed, 2100nm range, 3,600ft take-off field length, 0 to FL450 in 30 minutes, and certified for a maximum of 12 passengers. It is powered by the same Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545C engines, and Collins Aerospace’s ProLine 21 avionics graces the flight deck.
