Hartzell Polaris Prop Gets EASA Cert For DA40 NG

Diamond Offering As Factory Option On New Aircraft

Hartzell Propeller announced it has received approval from EASA, the European Aviation Safety Agency, for its Polaris high performance, 3-blade carbon fiber composite prop for the Diamond DA40 NG aircraft. Diamond Aircraft is making the prop available as a factory-installed option on new DA40 NG models.

The lightweight Polaris prop provides enhanced performance and durability over the standard wood-core model. The new version with its included spinner delivers smoother operation, improved climb rate, and 2-3 KTAS increase in cruise speed. Its noise signature is quieter as well at just 74.1 dBA, approximately equivalent to a loud conversation. For reference, normal conversation is between 60-70 dBA.

Jon Stoy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Hartzell Propeller said, “The Top Prop performance conversion kit for the DA40 NG includes our carbon fiber propeller, choice of a white or metallic silver composite spinner, and complete STC documentation. It’s an ideal upgrade for operators seeking advanced technology, enhanced performance, and long-term durability.”

This 74-inch diameter Polaris propeller features a Bantam aluminum hub and is specifically designed for the Austro Engine E4-A. It has a 2,400-hour or 6-year TBO, and is covered by the comprehensive warranty offered by Hartzell through the first overhaul cycle.

The prop is engineered for low weight and inertia and is built with advanced structural carbon fiber composites to deliver reliability, durability, and lifecycle value. Hartzell’s carbon fiber props are proven across numerous platforms.

Hartzell Propeller is based in Piqua, Ohio and designs advanced propellers with innovative blended airfoil technology and manufactures them with cutting edge custom resin transfer molding curing stations, machining centers, and robotics. It is a Signia Aerospace company.
