Classic Aero-TV: An LSA Success Story – The Progressive Aerodyne SeaRey

From 2015: Wet Or Dry... The SeaRey Has Built A Cult-Like Following Over Many Years

In this video, ANN News Editor, Tom Patton, talks with Adam Yang, the CEO of Progressive Aerodyne. Progressive Aerodyne manufacturers the kit version and the S-LSA version of the SeaRey amphibious aircraft.

The SeaRey has been a kit-built airplane for many years and moved into the factory-built light sport certified model of the aircraft about 2 years ago, Tom asked Yang how the light sport business has been going since they moved in that direction.

Yang said the aircraft featured in the video is the Elite version of the SeaRey which has been produced in the light sport variation for about one year, and has become their most popular factory-built light sport aircraft. At the time of this interview, Yang said 22 aircraft had been delivered.

When asked about transitioning from a kit-built airplane to a certified light sport airplane, Yang said it is a complex project but it adds to the customer’s ability to choose between a kit and a fly-away airplane. He pointed out that the quality requirements on the certified light sport aircraft are now being included in the kit-built aircraft

As the video progresses, Yang discusses the pricing and the features of the aircraft while you watch the aircraft in action on land and water. This video provides a lot of detail about this interesting airplane.
