Introducing The WA3 Surveyor Sport

Open Air Flying  With Speed & Utility

By Dave Juwel

The World Aircraft Company based in Paris, TN has introduced their open frame, tandem seat, light sport aircraft. While it looks like a modernized Breezy, it isn't. This aircraft is a real light sport aircraft with a 75% cruise speed of 103 mph. Actually it has capabilities greater than LSA, which is how you know it's an actual LSA performer. The instruments and radio are a package of Dynon's.

The engine is a Rotax 912ULS2 (100hp). The aircraft is dual control, and downward and side-to-side visibility is unobstructed from both seats. Interestingly, the struts have been split to accommodate easier entry into the back seat. The split struts also increase support to the wing.

It is capable of flying 5 hrs, plus reserve, and able to get in and out of spaces approximating 200 feet. It carries a payload of 467 lbs., with full fuel. The load factors are +6 and -3. The final production model will have a larger front pod. Wind deflectors will be added. Floats and a cargo pod will be options. Because the stall speed with flaps is 30 mph, you can slow down and loiter for hours. The aircraft will sell for approximately $79,900.00.

The aircraft can be built as a spray plane with a hopper capacity of 66 gallons. Your spray cost will be approximately $0.51 an acre. To comply with regulations, the spray plane will have a full glass enclosure. The spray equipment is an additional $8,721.00.
