How to Win Money in Aviation: Air Rally

Third Edition Now Includes IFR Division

Accuracy counts in rallying, and the third annual International Air Rally will be no exception. Fifty or more teams will compete, over gorgeous Canadian country, for a prize package of $50,000 (CDN). Better yet will be the fun and comaraderie the aviators will experience.

Though most of the nights will be spent in three- and four-star hotels, contestants will get rare chances, to sleep over on an Indian reservation, at a military base, and at the facilities of a hydroelectric dam.

It doesn't matter what you fly -- floatplane or amphib, single or twin -- the route is designed to take care of your needs.

This year, for the first time, there will be a division and competition for IFR competitors. The scenery's just as gorgeous, of course; only your charts look less-interesting!

For the first time, the website also is being built in English, the 'Lingua Franca' of aviation [little joke there --ed]. That will make access to information just that much easier to understand, for those of us whose French is a bit rusty. There are also plans to build parallel Spanish-language sites.

The Rally will take place this Summer, from July 19 through the 27, in time for participants to make it back to Oshkosh; registration will close on June 19, though, so don't delay.
