Boeing Plans First Dreamliner BBJ Delivery Later This Year

First 747-8 BBJ To Be Delivered Mid 2014

Boeing says it plans to deliver its first 787 Boeing Business Jet by the end of 2013, according to BBJ President Capt. Steve Taylor. The remarks came at the top of the BBJ news conference Monday morning at NBAA 2013.

Boeing said that so far this year, it has delivered four BBJs and one BBJ2, with one BBJ and 1 BBJ3 entering into service this year.

Taylor said that 2013 has been a challenging year for the division, but "we're selling enough airplanes to keep going."

Taylor said that since the division was formed in 1996, there have been a total of 211 orders and 186 delivered airplanes, with 163 flying for VIPs around the world.

On the horizon is the BBJ developed on the 737 MAX platform, with blended winglets that Boeing says will be the "most advanced in the industry." The BBJ MAX 8 and BBJ MAX 9 are reported to have a 14.6 percent and 16.2 percent improvement in range respective over the BBJ 2 and BBJ 3.
