Army Selects AEVEX Atlas Precision Strike System

Fielded For Initial Autonomous Launched Effects-Short Range Program

AEVEX, developer of autonomous solutions for defense, announced the U.S. Army has selected its Atlas Precision Strike System for its initial Launched Effects-Short Range fielding effort. The announcement comes after a successful user demonstration event and a series of soldier-led tests that validated the operational readiness of the system and its ability to deliver autonomous precision effects to further the Army’s priorities for modernization.

Brig. Gen. David Phillips, Program Executive Officer for Aviation, said the Atlas was chosen because it was ready for operational deployment. “[They] were production- ready that we could then rapidly field,” he said at the Association of the U.S. Army conference. He also emphasized the Army’s priority to deliver proven and deployable systems with no delay.

The Atlas system is a lightweight, Group II precision-strike platform that is foremost in the Army’s vision for Launched Effects. It is capable of delivering modular payload options with extended loiter times and autonomous operation for ISR and strike missions in contested environments.

It can be deployed rapidly and operated by a small team with minimal setup. Its open system architecture is intended for seamless integration of sensors, electronic warfare, or strike payloads. Its advanced navigation suite enables reliable performance and  target engagement even in GPS-denied or electronically contested environments.
