BRS-5 1500 HD Softpack Intro'd with BRS-600 Rocket

by ANN Correspondent John Ballantyne

Ballistic Recovery Systems (BRS) is the manufacturer of ballistic recovery systems for ultralights and certificated aircraft.

With systems designed for 500 pounds at 80 mph to 1,645 at 138 mph, their innovation is clearly illustrated.

The latest product from BRS is the newly designed BRS-5 1500 HD Softpack with the BRS-600 rocket.

The BRS 600 rocket motor is a solid fuel unit that deploys the parachute with a total impulse of 798 N-sec, 144 lbs peak thrust, 1.8 second burn time and 12 years service life.

BRS Design Engineer, Brent Torgerson, states that the BRS-5 1500 HD Softpack hosts a full 1,500 pound (680 kg), 145 mph (235 km/h) capacity. This is the perfect choice for aircraft such as the Kitfox series and other light sportplanes.
