Classic Aero-TV: CubCrafters NX Cub-A Stunning Effort To Build The ‘Perfect Cub'

We Were Blown Away At How Well The Nosewheel Was Adapted To The X Cub Airframe

It should not be a secret to any one of you, that with thousands of hours of taildragger time, and only a few real scares in the process, does the thought of putting a nose wheel on a cub was anathema -- and potentially a deadly sin. That is... Until I flew the CubCrafters NX Cub.

The CubCrafters folks are one of the most accomplished artisans in the Cub World, which is saying a lot,  because the art and craft of building, rebuilding, and perfecting the Cub for the 21st century has become an almost religious pursuit among many. CubCrafters, in understanding that there were customers that were never really going to understand how wonderful the Cub airframe could be, because of fear of operating a tailwheel-equipped aircraft, did what nobody really thought they could do... By putting a nose wheel on an advanced Cub generation airframe, and not only making it work, but actually making it work better than  conventional gear. As a result, CubCrafters may have destroyed the allure of the tailwheel for many by simply building a better mousetrap. The NX Cub is a magnificent piece of engineering and flies exquisitely. And yes, there is immense pain in making this statement.

Come along with us as we take a short test flight in a CubCrafters NX Cub at the South Lakeland airport during the tail end of the Sun n Fun 2021 Aerospace Expo, in God awful conditions, and see why we're so darned impressed.
