IAG Orders 76 Boeing, Airbus Airliners

Growth And Fleet Replacements On The Way

International Airlines Group, a joint holding company between British and Spanish air carriers, announced it has ordered up to 76 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft to enable anticipated growth as well as updating long-haul fleets to modern, fuel-efficient aircraft over the 2028-2033 period.

The group said in a statement the new aircraft “will enable IAG’s airlines to grow and replace their long-haul fleets with modern, fuel-efficient planes.”

The order includes 53 long-haul planes: 32 Boeing 787-10s for British Airways and 21 Airbus A330-900neos for Aer Lingus, Iberia, or LEVEL.

In addition, IAG said the deal involves options for up to 10 more Boeing 787s and up to 13 more Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

Thirty-five of the 53 aircraft will replace current aircraft. In the case of LEVEL, they will replace short-term leases. The other 18 aircraft will be used to accommodate growth in the group’s core markets.

The Airbus A330-900 neos will be powered by Rolls-Royce engines while British Airways’ Boeing 787-10s will be equipped with General Electric engines.

Luis Gallego, CEO of IAG said, “Looking ahead to the next decade, these new aircraft will enable us to strengthen our core markets and further improve our customer experience, while continuing to drive long-term value for our shareholders.”

This order comes on the heels of an order in March 2025 for six Airbus A350-900s for Iberia, six Airbus A350-1000s and six Boeing 777-9s for British Airways.
