Serbia To Purchase Three Archer Midnights?

eVTOLs Wanted During Expo 2027 In Belgrade

Serbia is interested in acquiring three of Archer Aviation’s Midnight eVTOL aircraft to be used during the Expo 2027 “Play For Humanity” in its capital city, Belgrade, according to reports from the country.

Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia, at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21, 2025,  hinted that the government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Archer, but no other details were given.

Vucic, during his remarks, lauded the safety features and redundancies built into eVTOLs such as the Midnight’s 12 rotors and six batteries that he said make it “safer than a helicopter.” He is very interested, and has been for some time, in  highlighting eVTOL technology during the Expo that will be held from May to August 2027.

The reports also said that Vucic has directed Serbia’s Directorate of Civil Aviation to create the regulatory framework and have it in place by mid-2026.

Serbia is interested in procuring eVTOLs from China, specifically the two-place model by EHang. Not too surprising given the strong commercial and diplomatic ties the two countries have cultivated.

Serbia also has strong aerospace ties with France and a Serbian minister said in 2024 that the government was going to sign an MoU with Airbus to potentially have its CityAirbus eVTOL perform demo flights during the Expo.
