Yup -- He Was Drunk, All Right

When this story broke, we said, "The as-yet-unidentified pilot, said to be from Newark (NJ), was declared 'unfit' for service by the airline, as he was pulled from command of Tuesday's Flight 1086, a 737 with 154 PAX, that went from Houston to Orlando."

Well, he's been identified now. He's Roger Andre Bousquet, a 15-year veteran. He was fired on October 17, two days after the incident; and the FAA yanked his ticket shortly after.

Bousquet is appealing the FAA's decision. His lawyer, Michael Welsh, says the DoT didn't follow proper procedures, when they found his client about to fly that jet. He tested between .108 and .114 that night -- too drunk to even drive his own car, in any state in the union; it's well above the FAA's .04% limit, too. [Whether he had been away from alcohol for the required eight hours wasn't reported --ed.]
