Garmin Receives ODA Approval From FAA

Allows Company To Issue STCs

Garmin International announced Thursday it has received Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The ODA designation permits Garmin to conduct certain activities on behalf of the FAA, such as the authority to issue Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) approving installations of Garmin avionics in aircraft.

This delegation converts the existing Garmin Organization Designated Airworthiness Representative (ODAR) and Designated Alteration Station (DAS) organizations to ODA and extends the authority to include Garmin’s Salem, Oregon, facility.

"Garmin has a long history of working well with the FAA," said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s vice president of marketing. "The ODA designation continues that legacy and reflects the high standards and experienced staff at Garmin. We are very proud to receive this ODA designation because it confirms our core principles of innovation, performance, quality, value and service."

Garmin International Inc. is a subsidiary of Garmin Ltd. Garmin’s products serve automotive, mobile, wireless, outdoor recreation, marine, aviation, and OEM applications.
