Textron Nexus eVTOL Flight Testing To Be At Salina

Slated To Follow Restrained Testing In 2025

Textron eAviation announced it will conduct the flight testing for the Nexus eVTOL full-scale demonstrator aircraft at Salina Regional Airport (KSLN), in Salina, Kansas, in collaboration with the Salina Airport Authority.

The testing program will commence following the successful completion of initial restrained testing at the National Institute of Aviation Research facility in Wichita, Kansas, planned for 2025. Testing at Salina is designed for validation of the full performance envelope of the aircraft.

The Nexus is a zero-emission aircraft designed for one pilot and four passengers in a variety of roles. It is powered by a distributed electric propulsion system featuring four propellers that tilt and two aft vertical stationary propellers. The combination of tilting and vertical rotors enables flexibility in operations such as transporting passengers, air ambulance, law enforcement, and cargo services.

Kriya Shortt, President & CEO of Textron eAviation said, "Kansas boasts a rich aviation history, and we're proud to work alongside the Salina Airport Authority to test these emerging technologies so close to home. The support and facilities provided by the Salina Airport Authority are vital as we advance towards bringing the Nexus eVTOL to market."

Pieter Miller, Executive Director of the Salina Airport Authority is happy to support the project, saying, "We are thrilled to partner with Textron eAviation on this exciting project. Salina Regional Airport has a longstanding tradition of supporting aviation innovation, and we look forward to contributing to the success of the Nexus eVTOL program."
