Now that Santa and his reindeer have put the sleigh back in the hangar for another year the skies are clear for Bill Harrelson to attempt yet another world record.

His plan is to circumnavigate the Earth over the North & South poles in world record time. Bill departed Kinston, North Carolina on December 28th in his purpose-built Lancair IV, bound for Brazil on his first leg. Southwest Airlines embarked on a new era Sunday as it celebrated the last AirTran Airways revenue flight. Bob Jordan, Southwest Airlines' Chief Commercial Officer and AirTran Airways President said, in part, "With this special flight, we are celebrating history and setting our sights on a bright future for all of Southwest Airlines." According to the Seaplane Pilots Association, the Tavares, Seaplane Base in Florida celebrated its 10,000th seaplane landing on, December 16th when a Cessna 182 flown by Jimmy Bilton skimmed in for landing at the seaport on the shore of Lake Dora.
