Airbus Picks Rockwell Collins’ Hardware For Class 2 EFB

Touch-Screen Displays And Docking Station For A320

Rockwell Collins announced Wednesday that its avionics-grade touch-screen technology and docking station hardware are featured on the new certified Airbus Class 2 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system for the A320 family. Rockwell Collins’ 12.1 inch touchscreens for the A320 undergo a patented lamination process to eliminate glare and provide additional protection against rugged conditions during flight. The displays also feature intuitive interfaces that are reliable, highly responsive and adaptable to various EFB applications.

The EFB display pulls data from flight crew laptops through the Rockwell Collins-supplied laptop docking station. The docking station provides secure housing for laptops during all flight conditions, allows retrieval of avionics data and is flexible for future portable computer technology changes.

The Airbus Class 2 EFB is an Airbus approved offering available as a forward fit and retrofit solution for the A320 family. The system debuted earlier this year on Lufthansa Airlines’ new A320 fleet, followed by Qatar Airlines.

The Airbus Class 2 EFB has been designed to enable easy retrofit and offer flexibility for various EFB operational concepts in airlines (pilot or aircraft attached).
