EBACE 2008: Eclipse Moves Closer To Starting Russian Production

Receives Gov't Permission To Export Eclipse 500

Eclipse Aviation announced Monday at the 8th Annual European Business Aviation Conference and Exposition (EBACE) it has received permission from the US Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), to export the Eclipse 500 Jet and its components to Russia.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada's Export and Import Controls Bureau has also granted a permit to Pratt & Whitney Canada and Eclipse Aviation to export the PW610F engine to Russia.

The Albuquerque, NM-based planemaker says the milestone is the next step in establishing an assembly facility in Ulyanovsk, Russia, as part of its earlier agreement with European Technology and Investment Research Center.

As ANN reported, the two companies announced their intent to build an international production site on January 14, as part of a significant investment by ETIRC in the fledgling very-light jet manufacturer. A key stipulation of that partnership grants ETIRC Aviation the right to establish local assembly of the Eclipse 500 within its region.

ETIRC Aviation is currently the exclusive provider of sales, customer service, maintenance support and flight training for the Eclipse 500 in the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Turkey and in the countries of Western and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
