New Association Formed For UAV Videographers

Online Petition Says FAA Discriminates Against Small UAV Operators Engaged In Aerial Imaging

A new organization has been formed among photographers and videographers who want to use small UAVs to to capture images.

The United States Association of Unmanned Aerial Videographers has as its stated mission is "to foster safe use of airways by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to create a vibrant economic opportunity by responsibly using UAVs for aerial imaging without violating or infringing on the safety and privacy rights of others."

The organizations website has posted a "Code of Conduct" for its members, which it says is a "guiding ethos intended to establish safe minimum standards for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operators when using UAVs for videography and photography during recreational or civilian commercial operations."

The group has also posted an online petition to stop the FAA from prosecuting business owners that operate small UAVs for aerial imaging while allowing hobbyists to operate unrestricted in the same airspace.
