Older Gentleman Goes On Safari For Osama

But How Did He Gets Those Weapons Past TSA?

An 81-year-old Ohio man armed with two pistols and ammunition was detained in Israel briefly, where he told police that he was on his way to Afghanistan in hopes of hunting down Osama bin Laden and claiming a $25 million bounty, the man’s Israeli lawyer said Friday.

Daniel Chick reportedly agreed to give up his weapons and leave Israel, said his attorney, Gideon Costa. Chick flew to Athens, Greece, on Wednesday, the attorney said, and was thus able to avoid prosecution.

Police in the port city of Haifa stopped Chick on Tuesday as he tried to board a boat for Cyprus and found the guns and ammunition in his bag.

"Nice Guy"

"He was looking for bin Laden for the adventure," said Costa, who did not know how to contact Chick after he left Israel. "I got the impression he was a nice guy," Costa said.

“If he gets the reward money I told him to remember that I had a part in the effort,” the lawyer said with a laugh.

The United States has offered a $25 million reward for information that helps capture bin Laden, the al-Qaida leader.

Chick was reportedly from Massillon (OH). How he got his weapons and ammunition onto a plane in the USA, is still unknown.

After leaving the United States, Chick made stops in Germany to visit a daughter and in Italy, where he caught a flight to Israel, the lawyer said.
