Classic Aero-TV: Granley Family Airshows - Bud Granley, Creating a Legacy

From 2009 (YouTube Edition): Granley Describes His Passion for Aviation and Air Show Performance

Bud Granley is certainly not a new face on the air show circuit; after 47 years as an aerobatic pilot, Granley now performs with his company, “Granley Family Airshows,” alongside his son Ross.

Their hair-raising formation act has garnered much acclaim among the aerobatic community.

In 2005, Bud Granley received the Art Scholl Showmanship award and just recently, he also accepted the Bill Barber Showmanship award.

After earning his pilot’s license in 1956, thanks to a Royal Canadian Air Cadet scholarship, Granley joined the Royal Canadian Air Force earning honors in both his basic and advanced flying schools.

Upon graduation, he flew the F-86 Sabre in Baden-Baden, Germany, eventually becoming a flight instructor on the T-6 Harvard.

His incredible piloting abilities in the T-6 impressed his superiors enough that Granley was selected to be the solo demonstration pilot for the Harvard.

That introduction to the air show circuit has led Granley along a life-changing path, both for himself as well as his family; two of his children followed his lead flying with the Snowbird aerobatic team.

Whether Granley is flying the T-6, Yak-55, or the Fouga Magister, he keeps himself busy sharing his passion and his incredible performance with fellow aviation enthusiasts.
