Republic Airways Pilot Receives Minority Achievers Award

Center For Leadership Development In Indianapolis Honors Capt. Ryan Lynch, As Founder Of Aviation-Based Indianapolis ACE Academy

Republic Airways Capt. Ryan Lynch, founder of the Indianapolis Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy sponsored by Republic Airways, has been recognized for business and industry achievement by the Center for Leadership Development (CLD) in Indianapolis. Lynch accepted the award during the recent 38th annual Minority Achievers Awards ceremony at the Indiana Convention Center, which drew hundreds of Central Indiana’s most influential business, educational and civic leaders to honor those making a difference in today’s minority youth community.

Approved and recognized by the FAA, the Indianapolis ACE Academy is a two-week, hands-on summer camp devoted to teaching middle and high school students the fundamentals of aerodynamics, aviation history, government affairs, as well as how to become a pilot – all tailored to STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) education. Since its launch 2010, the non-profit camp has enrolled about 1,100 students, many from the inner city. There are about 30 ACE Academy chapters across the country.

Hired by Republic in 2007, Capt. Lynch helped launch Republic’s Pilot Mentor Program, and he is a key member of the Company’s Pilot Talent Acquisition Team. He also is an active member of the Indianapolis chapter of Pilots For Kids and the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals. A resident of Indianapolis, Capt. Lynch is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

“Ryan exemplifies what we all should aspire to do – selfless giving of time, talent and treasure to help others,” said Matt Koscal, Republic’s SVP/chief administrative officer. “He embodies our corporate Guiding Principle to show trust, care and respect for each other, and his work to help those find their place in the world is proof of that. We are lucky to have him on our team.”

Founded in 1977, the non-profit CLD provides career and personal growth opportunities for minority youth, growing from 42 students and parents served to more than 5,200 in Central Indiana. Financial donors and supporters include Indiana’s largest companies. Capt. Lynch was among 33 recipients of the 2018 Minority Achievers Award in various categories.
