Supermodel Says She's Boycotting British Airways

Less Baggage For BA To Worry About...

This'll show 'em. For all their recent difficulties, at least there's one problem workers at British Airways apparently won't have to worry about in the foreseeable future: they need not live in fear any longer of being spit upon by a temperamental supermodel.

As ANN reported, Naomi Campbell made headlines earlier this month after she was told by a BA employee at London Heathrow she'd have to get off the plane she expected to fly to Los Angeles, because one of her bags had been lost -- not an isolated problem at the airline's new, and horrendously trouble-prone, Terminal Five.

The 37-year-old firebrand reportedly balked at that request, and the airline called local police to forcibly eject her. In the resulting confrontation, police say Campbell spat on an officer, and was hauled off to be charged with suspicion of assaulting an officer.

According To E! Online (hey, it's a reputable source! -- Ed.) Campbell announced this week she will boycott the British flag carrier, in response to the airline reportedly banning her earlier this month over the incident. If that sounds a lot like resigning from your job right after being fired... well, we're not saying anything, for fear Campbell will come after us next.

"Someone from BA called me and asked that I return to fly with them, but this will not occur so early," Campbell (Naomi, mind you, not Zoom) told Brazilian media this week. "They didn't find my bag -- said it wasn't in the system -- and there was a complete disrespect for the passengers.

"I am not speaking for myself," the newly-minted passenger rights advocate added. "I am speaking for all those who have been disrespected."

For its part, British Airways hasn't confirmed the ban... though one airline spokesman did tell London's Evening Standard newspaper, "We are not aware of any pleading phone calls to Ms. Campbell."
