B-29 'Doc' Coming To Ogden-Hinckley Airport

Midweek Stop For Historic World War II Superfortress Bomber

The History Restored Tour of the B-29 Superfortress Doc continues as it will make a midweek stop at Ogden-Hinckley Airport (KOGD) in Utah and will be available for flight experience rides on September 24-25-26.

Sean Elliott, B-29 Doc aircraft commander said, “Ogden and its surrounding area have a rich heritage in military and aviation history, dating back to as early as World War I and continuing with its present-day mission at Hill Air Force Base where our nation’s warfighters continue to serve today. The proximity of nearby Wendover Field where members of the 509th Composite Group trained for atomic warfare and nuclear weapons during World War II is truly exceptional. Bringing B-29 Doc to an area like Ogden gives people a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with history and learn about the machines that were built to protect freedom and deliver victory for the Allies during the war. It also allows us to connect to and inspire future generations to serve, whether in our nation’s military or in an aviation or aerospace related career.”

During World War II 1,644 B-29s like Doc were built in Wichita, Kansas, at the Boeing Company’s plant. Doc rolled off the assembly line 80 years ago in 1944, and it is one of the two B-29s along with Fifi that are airworthy and still flying today.
