Southwest Airlines Offers Four 737NG Type Rating Scholarships

Four Women In Aviation, International Members Will Win These Life-Changing Scholarships

Southwest Airlines has added to the WAI roster of 85 scholarships by offering WAI members the opportunity to win four Boeing 737NG type ratings.  Anyone, female or male, who was a member of WAI as of November 1, 2013, is eligible to apply. For these SWA scholarships only, the deadline to apply has been extended to December 1, 2013, while the deadline for the other scholarships remains November 18, 2013.

"What a tremendous opportunity Southwest is offering our members,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. "We are grateful to Southwest along with the other airlines and organizations who generously boost the careers of worthy and qualified pilots.”

To apply for a Southwest 737NG scholarship, qualified candidates must submit their application, complete professional résumé and single page essay explaining how this scholarship could help you reach your professional career goals.  Complete qualifications for pilots applying for the Southwest Airlines scholarships may be seen at wai.org/scholarships.

The Southwest 737NG Scholarship includes an ATP Rating for applicants who do not currently have an ATP. If selected, the scholarship recipient will be required to successfully complete the FAA ATP written exam prior to beginning the type rating course.

Scholarship recipients will also receive round trip airfare and hotel accommodations for training in Dallas, Texas.
“Southwest Airlines is literally making dreams come true for four of our members,” adds Chabrian. “Thank you to Southwest Airlines and all of the other generous companies, organizations and individuals who make our scholarship program a cornerstone of WAI’s efforts.”

The scholarships will be awarded at WAI's 25th Anniversary Conference, held at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL (near Orlando), from March 6-8, 2014.
