Flight Advisory: GPS Interference Testing 5.13 and 5.20

MacDill Air Force Base Notice In Support Of 130i (MACD130) 20-01 13 & 20 May 2020, Tampa, FL

Every now and then, the powers-that-be test GPS Interference issues... by interfering with GPS.

 Such a case is coming our way down here in Florida next week. GPS testing is scheduled as follows and may result in unreliable or unavailable GPS signal.

A. Location: Centered at 275033N0823001W or the PIE VOR 118 degree radial at 11NM.

B. Dates and times (Dates and times are based on GMT (Z).):

  • 13 MAY 20 0700Z – 1000Z
  • 20 MAY 20 0700Z – 1000Z

C. Duration: Each event may last the entire requested period.

D. NOTAM INFO: NAV GPS (MACD130 GPS 20-01) (INCLUDING WAAS, GBAS, AND ADS-B) MAY NOT BE AVBL WI A 246NM RADIUS CENTERED AT:

  • 275033N0823001W (PIE118011) FL400-UNL,
  • 200NM RADIUS AT FL250,
  • 137NM RADIUS AT 10000FT,
  • 99NM RADIUS AT 4000FT AGL,
  • 47NM RADIUS AT 50FT AGL.

E. Pilots are encouraged to report anomalies in accordance with the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) paragraphs 1-1-13 and 5-3-3.

The NOTAMs discussed in this advisory may change with little or no notice. Pilots are advised to check NOTAMs frequently for possible changes prior to operations in the area.

NOTAMs will be published at least 24 hours in advance of any GPS tests.
