Seminole State, Epic Enter Credit Transfer Agreement

Flight Training Certs Earn Credit Hours Toward Degree

Epic Flight Academy and Seminole State College of Florida (SSC) have signed an agreement that enables pilots trained at Epic to transfer certifications as college credit hours toward a degree at SSC. A maximum number of 27 credits can be applied toward an Associate degree.

An associate degree at Seminole State College requires 60 credit hours, so a pilot who goes from Private to CFI at Epic can get credit for nearly half that total.

The breakdown for each certificate is:

  • Private Pilot: 6 credit hours
  • Instrument Rating: 6 credit hours
  • Commercial Single-Engine: 6 credit hours
  • Commercial Multi-Engine or Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument: 4 credit hours
  • Certified Flight Instructor: 5 credit hours

Danny Perna, ounder and CEO of Epic Flight Academy said, “We are excited to announce this agreement with Seminole State College. This provides a pathway for our flight students to turn their FAA-issued flying credentials into college credit toward a degree in more than 200 program options.

“Furthermore, Seminole State’s online courses offer flexibility to Epic pilots who have joined the workforce. A Seminole State College degree will enhance their career opportunities.”

Dr. Loretta Ovueraye, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Seminole State noted, “This agreement with Epic Flight Academy offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals to not only earn college credit but also to complete a credential at Seminole State faster.

“With the credits earned from their licensure, students will be a step ahead and have a wide range of options to continue their education in preparation for a successful career in some of Florida’s high-demand, high-paying industries.”

Epic Flight Academy currently operates 10 campuses offering FAA-certified instruction for all basic pilot training levels as well as for aviation maintenance technicians.

Seminole State College runs six campuses offering a variety of Associate Degrees in Science and Arts as well as Bachelor Degrees.
