Hagerstown Aviation Museum Taking On Fairchild XNQ-1 Navy Trainer

The Fairchild XNQ-1 Was Restored During The Years 1983-1992

There's good news for the Hagerstown Aviation Museum with the news that, "The one and only 1947 Fairchild XNQ-1 Navy Trainer is being donated..." to the facility.

This airplane is reportedly one of only two examples ever produced, and is in the process of flying from its current home in Texas to the place of its birth, Hagerstown, this Monday June 10th. The Fairchild XNQ-1 was restored during the years 1983-1992 by Don and Ann Pellegreno in their farm workshop near Story City, Iowa. The airplane has been maintained ever since and flown to air shows throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, and (naturally...) awarded “Best in Show” many times!

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum reports that it is 'honored that Don and Ann chose the museum to be the caretakers of this remarkable, one-of-a-kind survivor.' They add that they are truly thrilled that after 75 years they can welcome her home to the roost!

The XNQ joins the museum's ever-expanding collection of aircraft and artifacts -- each of which has its own story to tell -- but as a whole, tell the extraordinary story of the thousands of men and women who built the aircraft that made Fairchild and Hagerstown known throughout the world.
