Missile Fired at US C-130

Baghdad Ain't 100% Secured, Yet

A Pentagon spokesman announced Wednesday that, "A C-130 was flying into Baghdad. It was fired upon by a surface-to-air missile." The shot was made about a quarter before nine in the morning, local time. It missed.

This is the first such attack since the war was officially declared won. Other atacks have been land-based.

The unidentified spokesman did not say what kind of missile was involved, or just how close the missile had come, or how low the Herc was flying at the time of the attack. He also did not mention whether the person(s) responsible for the attack had been identified or apprehended; media assumed they had not.

Thursday marks the 35th anniversary of Saddam Hussein's taking power in Iraq.
