Hawaii Jet Fuel Seller Tanks

Century Aviation Files Chapter 11

Century Aviation, which has provided fuel and ground support for business and GA aircraft in Honolulu (HI) since the 1970s, is bankrupt.

The company filed for Chapter 11 protection last week, saying it owes creditors between $1 million and $10 million. The business continues to operate at Honolulu International Airport, Kona, Hilo, Lihue and Lanai.

Century was founded in the 1970s by developer Chris Hemmeter. Originally, it was a series of fueling stations for his own personal jet aircraft -- and those of his friends. The company was sold to Japanese investors in 1990.
