You Say Grenada, I Say Granada, Judge Says ...

Mis-Booked Ticket Leads To Lawsuit

A Maryland dentist who thought he was traveling to Spain wound up on a flight to the Caribbean instead because of a mixup when he booked his ticket.

And now, Edward Gamson is suing British Airways for the mistake.

Gamson called to book his first class ticket to Granada, Spain on BA. But on the leg from London that should have taken him south to Spain, he noticed the plane was heading west. He asked a crew member, and discovered that he was on a plane to the Caribbean island of Grenada, according to a report appearing on Mashable.com.

British Airways had offered Gamson and his traveling companion $376 each and 50,000 miles for their trouble, but the dentist said that when taken all together ... missing the trip, hotels, trains, and tours … he was more than $34,000 out-of-pocket for the mistake.

BA would not comment on an active lawsuit, but it is not the first time someone headed for Granada has wound up in Grenada. A crew member told Gamson that it had happened just the previous week, and there have been other instances of the mistake as well.
