Air Charter Service Announces Sponsorship Of Sustainable Aviation Programs

Will Support Projects To Reduce Emissions And Noise In Future Aircraft

On May 10th 87 years ago, Charles Lindbergh departed from San Diego on a journey that changed aviation. On that anniversary, Air Charter Service and Powering Imagination depart on a new journey to ensure that the future of air transportation and the dream of flight are sustainable for the long term.

Charles Lindbergh's flight across the Atlantic in the Spirit of St Louis altered the aviation industry forever. The technologies, flight planning methods, and discipline used on this historic flight transformed aviation from being a pastime for daredevils, into a global transportation industry that seamlessly connects cultures and continents. Even as early as the 1930s, Charles Lindbergh could see that the benefits of aviation in connecting the world were enormous, but he also saw risks to the environment created by the huge increase in mobility and travel.

"Forward thinking companies in aviation are looking at the innovations required to make aviation sustainable for our future," said Erik Lindbergh, grandson of Charles Lindbergh and CEO of Powering Imagination, a company formed to promote sustainable innovations in aviation. "We are pleased to announce that Air Charter Service is a founding sponsor of Powering Imagination's sustainable aviation programs. Air Charter Service (ACS) is an innovator in efficiently utilizing private charter fleets around the world, and they play a critical role in mobilizing large fleets of aircraft globally when needed by relief organizations. We are proud to have ACS helping us create a more sustainable future for flight," said Lindbergh.

Lindbergh and Chris Leach, Chairman of Air Charter Service both noted that the development of new technologies to increase efficiency, reduce emissions, and decrease noise; are critical to maintaining a vibrant aerospace industry. Air Charter Service's sponsorship of Powering Imagination will enable projects to reduce emissions and noise for future generations of aircraft. Air Charter Service's support will be visible in the Quiet Flight Initiative recently launched between Powering Imagination and Embry-Riddle to create an electric test aircraft for development of electric propulsion technologies and noise reduction methods.

ACS is also a supporter of Powering Imagination's 2016 adventure to retrace the 1931 flight of Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh from the US to China, captured in the bestselling book: North to the Orient by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. This journey charted the routes and opened up air travel across the Pacific, by demonstrating the technologies and navigation methods necessary to make trans-Pacific flight practical. "Our 2016 flight around the Pacific will be a tribute to my grandparents' journey, and it creates an opportunity to showcase the advances being made in alternative aviation fuels as we fly a floatplane more than 8,000 miles to connect both cultures and continents, and to connect with the history of aviation," said Lindbergh.

"As a founding sponsor, Air Charter Service is a key part of all of our sustainable aviation programs," said Eric Bartsch, Chief Operating Officer of Powering Imagination. "ACS is a leader in the aviation community and we will be giving ACS's customers a front row seat to involve them in our global adventures that make new aerospace innovations real for people around the world."

"ACS has been actively engaged in the future of flight through the creation of the Lindbergh card, the most efficient method of chartering aircraft on demand around the world, and we are honored to have them step forward as a founding sponsor of Powering Imagination. News about our other sponsors who support our message of Sustainability, Innovation, and Adventure will be coming shortly as more leading edge companies join us in ensuring a bright future for flight," said Lindbergh.
