Cozy Going to Aircraft Spruce

During a forum at Oshkosh, Co-Z Development Corporation President Nat Puffer announced that Aircraft Spruce & Specialty will be purchasing the design rights to the Cozy III and Cozy MKIV experimental aircraft effective January 1, 2004. Aircraft Spruce, which has been a supplier of Cozy materials kits and avionics since 1982, is also a source now for Cozy plans.

A side-by-side derivative of the Long EZ, the Cozy III was designed in 1980 and flown in 1981 at which time plans became available. Over 800 sets of plans were sold for the Cozy III. Sales of plans for the considerably more popular Cozy MKIV, a four-place canard pusher, are approaching 2,000.

Commenting on the transfer of design rights, Aircraft Spruce President Jim Irwin said, "The Cozy has been one of the most popular plans-built experimental aircraft in the history of composite aircraft. Aircraft Spruce is pleased to have the opportunity to continue to offer plans and kits for these fine designs. Nat has provided builders with excellent plans and support to builders over the past 22 years, and we will be working closely with him to insure a smooth transition of the Cozy business and its high standards to Aircraft Spruce."

Nat Puffer himself added, "Aircraft Spruce has provided fine service to Cozy builders over the years and we are confident they will do an excellent job in continuing to make Cozy plans, information packs and materials kits available to the homebuilt market."
