Aero-News Quote Of The Day (08.09.04)

Aero-News: Quote of the Day

ANN's Quote of the Day usually derives from current news, though we reserve the right to pick quotes out of history that have a bearing on the day's events and issues.

Sometimes, you'll find them timely and in keeping with the content of the day's news... and sometimes, they'll just be thought-provoking.

Reader suggestions and comments are welcome... and if particularly intriguing, timely, or poignant, may themselves become future Quotes of the Day.

Let us hear from you, folks!

Aero-News Quote of the Day

"[T]he Forest Service request for information on June 2nd didn't request operational service life reports from Lockheed. They asked for this 10 days ago. Our point is there's no reason we can't be operational in the meantime."

Source: Neptune President Kristen Schloemer, after Montana's lone Congressman, Denny Rehberg, announced a deal with the Forest Service to have the government pay for a search of Lockheed records on the P-2V. Before Neptune can fly the vintage military aircraft on aerial firefighting missions again, the Forest Service wants to see a report written when the type was first developed in 1949 which projects the Orion's life cycle.
