Kaan Air Orders One AW139, One AW189

Both To Be Delivered In VIP Configuration In Turkey

An order for one AW139 intermediate twin-engine helicopter and one AW189 super medium twin-engine helicopter has been placed with AgustaWestland by Kaan Air. Both helicopters will be fitted out with VIP passenger transport interiors and will be operated in Turkey. The contract expands the success of the AW139 in Turkey and marks the entrance of the AW189 into the Turkish helicopter market. This is the first VIP-configured AW189 ordered in Europe where the type has already enjoyed a considerable success in the offshore and SAR markets.

With this latest achievement the Company further expands its presence in the Turkish commercial helicopter market where the company has already sold more than 30 helicopters from its entire range of commercial products including the AW119, AW109 Power, Grand/GrandNew, AW169 and the AW139 particularly for VIP/corporate transport. With this latest sale the whole Family of new generation helicopters, comprising the AW169, AW139 and AW189, have found success in the Turkish market.

The AW139 has become a platform for a wide range of operations across the globe. Over 200 customers from more than 60 countries have ordered almost 760 AW139 helicopters so far. The AW189 was designed in response to the growing market demand for a versatile, affordable, multi-role super medium twin-engine helicopter.

The AW189 is unique in having a 50 minute ‘run-dry’ capable main gear box, exceeding current certification standards and offering unmatched safety levels. Optimized for long range, high capacity VIP/passenger transport, offshore transport and SAR missions, orders for approximately 130 AW189 (including options and framework contracts) have now been placed, making it the market leader in its class. Certified in early February this year, the  AW189 is now being delivered to the first batch of customers.
