New Bonanza Climate System Receives STC

Integrated Heat And Air Makes Cabins Comfy

Seamech International, Inc. and A/C Systems, LLC have introduced a new, more modern air conditioning and heating system which has been certified through STC for many of the 14VDC and 28VDC Bonanza models.  This new system provides air conditioning and heating operated by a fully digital, automatic climate control. The air conditioning system is fully integrated with the heating system, and can be left on during all phases of flight with no apparent discernible loss of performance in takeoff distance, cruise speed, climb, or range. During startup or low bus voltage the climate control system automatically cycles off through its built-in load-shedding control.

For comfort, the flight crew needs only to set the temperature on the digital display, and the selected temperature is maintained through automatic operation of the air conditioning or heating systems as required. During A/C operation the cooled air is distributed through the standard overhead ceiling console and into an upgraded forward ceiling console, allowing for complete distribution of air through the entire cabin with special emphasis on the crew positions.  The heating mode utilizes the existing aircraft heating system, but since its operation is fully integrated into the automatic climate control system, changes from air conditioning to heat and back to air conditioning occur automatically. Bonanzas with existing zoned aft heat control receives electronic control of the aft heat within reach of the middle row of passengers.

When maintenance is required, the system provides fault codes, sensor output, and mode information to allow for effective diagnostics and repair.

The company claims the automatic system will reduce cockpit work load, and that more precise climate control and improved cabin comfort help reduce crew fatigue.
