Sensenich Celebrates 100,000 Composite Prop Blades

Plant Takes a Well-Deserved Fishing Trip to Mark the Milestone

Sensenich took a company-wide day off on June 6, 2025, to celebrate a major milestone: the production of its 100,000th composite propeller blade. The manufacturer began venturing into composites, expanding from its already wide collection of wood and metal designs, in the late 1990s.

“We hit a milestone a few weeks back with the production of composite blade serial # 100,000 and in appreciation to this team, we are taking a day for a company offshore fishing trip,” the company wrote in a Facebook post. “We will be back to our normal schedule on June 9th.”

The company has been making propellers for more than 95 years, starting in Pennsylvania under the name Sensenich Brothers Company in 1932. Its early designs were wooden props for Piper Cubs and Taylorcraft, though it expanded its collection to metal fixed-pitch propellers in the 1940s.

Sensenich continued to adjust to the times and, in the 1990s, decided to move into composites with ground-adjustable pitch. These allow pilots to tune the prop load to the engine torque and aircraft mission, giving the flexibility to change as needed without sacrificing ease of use or compatibility.

The carbon fiber, adjustable pitch composite propeller line saves weight while adding performance, efficiency, and strength. The company currently lists 18 propeller carbon fiber designs available on its website, coming in two or three-blade configurations.

Sensenich has STCs for a wide range of aircraft, primarily Pipers like the PA-12 Super Cruiser, PA-14 Family Cruiser, and PA-18 Super Cub. The props are also approved for many light sport aircraft that utilize Rotax, Jabiru, Continental, and Lycoming powerplants. And, most recently, Sensenich earned an STC for the Cessna 172.
