Voltaero Launches European Fractional Ownership Program

French Aerospace Marque to Offer Shares in its Innovative, Cassio 330 Aircraft

VoltAero is launching a European, fractional-ownership program for its Cassio 330 electric-hybrid aircraft.

The company accepted initial expressions of interest for fractional ownership shares of its five-seat, single-engine, pusher-configuration, twin-tail-boom canard at last weeks European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva.

“Cassio will open a new era of highly sustainable air transportation in Europe with on-demand flight services for those who join our fractional share ownership,” explained Jean Botti, VoltAero’s CEO and Chief Technology Officer. The 330-kilowatt, Cassio 330 is the first in a trio of hybrid-powered aircraft proposed by the French aerospace concern, which looks to eventually expand its fractional ownership program to include the as-of-yet undeveloped: six-seat, 480-kilowatt, Cassio 480; and the 10-12 seat, 600-kilowatt, Cassio 600. VoltAero asserts all Cassio series aircraft will share a high degree of modularity and commonality.

The Casio propulsion system comprises a series of primary, electric motors and a conventional, internal-combustion engine that serves to extend range by recharging the aircraft’s batteries in flight. Additionally, the internal-combustion engine provides backup power in the event of electric propulsion system failure.

A flight demonstrator aircraft is currently validating the hybrid-electric powertrain in preparation for airworthiness certification and subsequent utilization in future, VoltAero aircraft.

Based near the city of Royan in west-central France, VoltAero has developed and previously flown the 20-kilowatt Electric Cri-Cri (2011); the 60-kilowatt E-FAN, which made history in 2015 by becoming the first all-electric commercial aircraft to cross the English Channel.
