Aero-TV: Pilot/Senator Jim Inhofe - Straight Talk From Oshkosh 2014, Part 1

An Outspoken Friend Of Aviation Serves Us ALL In The US Senate

While at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell talked about general aviation issues with Oklahoma U.S. Senator, James Inhofe.

Senator Inhofe has long been an outspoken friend of aviation in the U.S. Senate, and he was recently responsible for the legislation known as the Pilots Bill of Rights.

Commonly known as PBR-1, the Pilot's Bill of Rights took a major step forward to require the FAA to treat pilots in a manner similar to standard legal procedures in a violation actions. However, Senator Inhofe recognized that more work needs to be done to assure pilots rights and appropriate FAA services. Campbell and Senator Inhofe discuss the proposed PBR-2 which will further fairness and progress for general aviation pilots.

In this video, Senator Inhofe discusses issues such as legal procedures affording pilots the opportunity to appeal violation findings in a federal appeals court rather than the NTSB, third class medical requirement reform, and unwarranted federal agency searches of general aviation aircraft. They also discuss the NextGen general aviation fund and its importance to pilots for upgrading navigation equipment to comply with upcoming NextGen deadlines.

If you're feeling a bit blue over the state of general aviation, this video is a sure to perk you up when you see that someone in our government really does care about these important general aviation issues. This is part 1 of 2 interviews with Senator Inhofe at AirVenture 2014. Be sure to view part 2.
