Daughter Follows In Father's Footsteps As Cathay Pacific Pilot

Two Recently Assigned To Same Flight From Manila To Hong Kong

Little girls often want to follow in their father's footsteps, and such was the case with Zoe Davies, whose dad Stuart is a captain with Cathay Pacific airlines.

Stuart, 64, began flying with Cathay when his daughter was only nine months old. He recalls that at three, Zoe put on his hat, and when he asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said "I'm going to be a Cathay pilot."

Good to her word, Zoe got her private pilot certificate on her own, and when she said she really wanted to make a career out of flying, her dad helped her with the expensive education. She received further training at the British Royal Air Force's University Air Squadron, according to the South China Morning Post.

Zoe, now 35, has now been flying for Cathay for five years. She said she was not really trying to follow her dad's career, but both are pretty pleased with the results. They recently flew a Cathay 747 together from Manila to Hong Kong, the second time they've served as crew together.

Stuart, who is nearing retirement, said that one of the reasons he likes to fly with his daughter is that she has to call him "captain" or "sir" ... she's not allowed to call him "dad" on the flight deck.

And, he gave his FO high marks for the Manila to Hong Kong flight, saying she made a "good landing" at the end of the trip.
