Pilots Should Begin Required Reading To Prep For Fly-In
The EAA announced that the FAA-approved updates to the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025 Notice, commonly known as the Oshkosh NOTAM, has been released for this year’s 72nd fly-in and convention that runs from July 21-27 at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The changes and updates are based on pilot feedback and FAA review of recommendations pertaining to arrival procedures.
The NOTAM is in effect beginning at noon CDT Thursday, July 17, until noon CDT Monday, July 28. It describes the procedures for the numerous types of aircraft that fly in for the spectacle, and also for aircraft that fly into nearby airports.
The FAA designed the Notice to assist pilots in flight planning for their trips to AirVenture.
Some of the updates include:
- Maintaining 90 KTS until entering downwind at Oshkosh
- New depiction of gravel pit/beginning descent over gravel pit (any portion) when arriving to Runway 27.
- Addition of a QR code on the Notice cover that directs to the EAA “Flying In” webpage
- References to mass arrival schedule, transient helicopter operations, and the EAA Seaplane Base.
Sean Elliott, EAA’s Vice President of Advocacy and Safety said, “The most essential information for any pilot flying to Oshkosh involves reading and thoroughly understanding the 2025 AirVenture Notice to ensure safe operations on arrival and departure. We urge all pilots to adequate prepare prior to their trip to Oshkosh and consider such things as our AirVenture arrival flight review so they have the proficiency and confidence to fly safely.”
The EAA is also hosting a webinar covering flying to AirVneture 2025 and the changes in this year’s Notice. It will be presented on June 18 at 7 p.m. CDT. Registration is available at the link below.
