Two Helicopter Crash Victims Were FAA Safety Inspectors

One Was Killed, The Other Injured When The Aircraft Went Down

Two FAA safety inspectors were aboard a Robinson R44 helicopter when it went down Tuesday, killing one and injuring the other. No cause for the incident has been determined.

CNN reports that the aircraft hit an apparently unoccupied duplex-style house near Hawkins Field airport in Jackson, MS. Kathleen Bergen of the Federal Aviation Administration said the two people involved were from the agency's Flight Standards District Office in Jackson. Their names have not been released.

Both people were taken to Mississippi Medical Center, and one died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Jackson authorities said no one answered the door at the home when they arrived, leading them to believe it was empty at the time of the accident. The aircraft was registered to a local company, and operated out of Hawkins Field.
