Hearing To Examine Airport Financing And Development

House Aviation Subcommittee To Discuss Issue June 18

The House Transportation Committee Aviation Subcommittee, chaired by U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) (pictured), will hold a hearing this week on airport financing and development.

The current FAA forecast calls for U.S. carrier passenger growth of an average of 2.2 percent per year over the next 20 years.  Given this projected increase in traffic, there may be greater demands on the capacity of the system’s physical infrastructure.  Next week’s hearing will examine this capacity, and sources of revenue for airport operations and infrastructure.

The hearing, entitled “Airport Financing and Development,” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on June 18, 2014 in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

Two panels have been invited to offer remarks to the subcommittee. Panel 1 consists of Mr. Benito “Ben” De Leon, Deputy Associate Administrator for Airports, for the FAA, and  Dr. Gerald L. Dillingham, Director of Civil Aviation Issues, U.S. Government Accountability Office

The second panel will include:

  • Todd Hauptli, President and CEO, American Association of Airport Executives
  • Sharon Pinkerton, Senior Vice President, Legislative and Regulatory Policy, Airlines for America
  • Mark Reis, Chairman, Board of Directors, Airports Council International, North America Mark Baker, President and CEO, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association
