British Job Losses Ahead For Airbus?

Spain Angling For More Production Work

The BBC reports Spain wants a bigger say in what goes on at Airbus parent-company EADS... and that has British lawmakers worried Airbus production might be moved from Broughton to a Spanish city.

A leaked report obtained by the British Broadcasting Corporation says... after BAE Systems sells its 20-percent stake in EADS as planned... Spanish authorities are interested in picking up the slack.

Does that indeed mean a move for the Broughton facility? Wales Office Minister Nick Ainger says no... that he's received assurances from EADS that, no matter what happens... 7,000 jobs at Boughton are safe.

But lawmakers are clearly shaken by the prospect. Parliamentarian Mark Tami says, this just proves Wales can never take for granted any employment offered by Airbus.
