Couple Trysts In Denver Airport Mobile Command Post

Caught By Motion-Activated Cameras

A woman employed by the city of Denver at KDEN and a firefighter stationed at the airport used a $2.5 million mobile command post for sexual liaisons on three separate occasions in 2009. Neither is still employed by the city.

The woman allegedly drove a city vehicle from her office at the airport to the fire station, where she met the firefighter for trysts in the command post. Neither one knew that the vehicle was outfitted with motion-activated video cameras. The X-rated tapes of their escapades were discovered by another city employee doing routine maintenance work on the vehicle.

Denver's television station KCNC reports that the fireman of 20 years resigned under the threat of certain dismissal, and the woman was fired from her airport job. She later admitted that she exercised very poor judgment and behaved unprofessionally. Still, she appealed her dismissal. That appeal was denied. "We took immediate action. We're not going to stand for that kind of behavior at the airport," said DIA spokesman Jeff Green.

The mobile command post is used during emergencies such as aircraft accidents. A city councilman expressed concern that DEN's "showpiece" could turn into an "object of derision."

A fire department spokesperson said he did not think that the fireman's actions in any way jeopardized the public safety.
