Video Shows Helicopter Falling Apart After Landing

None Of The Aircraft's Occupants Were Injured

In a scene vaguely reminiscent of one of those comedy movie classics where a car falls apart just after arriving at its destination or finishing the car chase ... a dramatic video out of Brazil shows a rescue helicopter literally shaking its self apart after landing in what appears to be a rare case of ground resonance (especially for this configuration).

The Brazilian Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center is looking into the incident, which happened Wednesday in the state of Para, according to multiple media sources including the Associated Press.

In the video, which was shot by a member of the Para Fire Department, the helicopter is shown landing, then starting to shake violently, spinning on its landing skids. As the rotor slows, the entire front of the cockpit separates from the fuselage of the aircraft.

Officials are looking at "ground resonance" as a possible cause of the aircraft's breakup. Ground resonance can happen when a helicopter is on the ground with its rotor engaged. None of the people on board the rescue helicopter were injured.
