Universal InSight Integrated Flight Deck Available
Southeast Aerospace (SEA) is working on an upcoming Hawker 800 STC with Universal Avionics in the hopes of offering a fully integrated InSight EFIS flight deck. The upgrade will include optional, but recommended datacom capability to meet FANS 1/A and CPDLC requirements. The Mid-Continent MD 302 SAM standby instrument is included as replacement for existing ones or older ESI's. Once approved, the STC’s should cover most configurations of Hawker 800.
The Hawker 800 series was produced for decades, beginning in 1983 up to 2013, with a number of variations in flight decks and avionic configurations. For many owners and operators, the difficulty of retrofitting and upgrading from the vintage equipment has remained difficult, leaving them to repair and maintain legacy systems. With 2 of SEA's upcoming STC's, 3 of the 4 major flight deck variations are supported for modernization, covering the Hawker 800A, 800B, and 800XP aircraft with Collins EFIS 85/86, FCS-80, and APS-85 autopilots, as well as Honeywell SPZ-8000 to be upgraded to the complete Universal InSight Integrated Flight Deck. In addition, SEA has another STC in the works to cover similar aircraft, flight deck, and autopilot combinations.
“Part of 9 Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) in work or already available for installation, this H800 STC from Southeast Aerospace offers an additional proof of the flexibility afforded by the InSight™ Display System”, says Marc Bouliane, VP of business development at Universal Avionics. “By upgrading with InSight, the flight crew can now take advantage of an intuitive Human Machine Interface (HMI) with synthetic vision and advanced mapping capabilities, embedded electronic charts, radio control, and more. It increases pilot Situational Awareness, reduces workload by offering a tight integration with Universal’s FMS and UniLink data communication for CPDLC, and enables advanced maintenance capabilities with its unique remote diagnostic capability.”
