AeroVironment Introduces JUMP 20-X For Autonomous Maritime Ops

Next-Gen Modular VTOL Medium UAS For Multi-Mission Capabilities

AeroVironment, producer of intellignent, multi-domain autonomous solutions, announced the launch of its JUMP 20-X next-gen, modular Group 3 UAS to address the dynamic demands of modern warfare with versatility, efficiency, and precision in contested environments.

AeroVironment revealed the JUMP 20-X at the 2025 International Defense Exhibition & Conference as a VTOL medium UAS designed to significantly improve shipboard UAS operations.

The JUMP-20X has an advanced heavy-fuel engine capable of running on multiple fuel types that simplifies refueling logistics and ensures adaptability for diverse maritime and expeditionary environments.

The vehicle is built for long-range, multi-domain operations and has a 13-hour endurance along with BVLOS connectivity to ensure persistent surveillance and strike capability beyond the horizon.

The craft’s modular 30-pound multi-payload capacity supports a broad range of mission types including

  • ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Recon)
  • SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) and WAS (Wide-Area Surveillance
  • SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) and EW (Electronic Warfare)
  • Secure Comms and Video Relay
  • Precision Strike Capability with customizable ordnance options

The JUMP 20-X is built with an open-architecture, payload- and radio-agnostic, and STANAG-compliant framework to ensure rapid and seamless integrating with existing military networks as well as emerging technologies. The modular, open-systems approach makes the JUMP 20-X future-proof and provides seamless interoperability across joint, allied, and coalition forces to allow operators to adapt to evolving missions in real time.

Shane Hastings, AV’s vice president and general manager of Medium UAS said, “The JUMP 20-X is more than a UAS—it’s a force multiplier that delivers the unmatched versatility, efficiency, and reliability modern operators’ demand. By combining cutting-edge autonomy, extended endurance, and a modular design, JUMP 20-X redefines what’s possible for maritime and expeditionary UAS operations in the most contested domains.”
