Military Helicopter Upgrade Market Worth Over $5 Billion This Year

Report Outlines Cost Advantages Of Upgrades Compared To New Aircraft

Helicopters are essential to most military operations and extending the service life of rotorcraft is a priority for many armed forces. Upgrading helicopters is less costly than acquiring new helicopters – just one of the reasons a new piece of research from industry intelligence providers The new report predicts a growing market for military helicopter modernization this year, with a total value of $5.04 billion calculated in 2014.

The a new 135 page report, entitled Military Helicopter Modernization, Upgrade & Retrofit Market 2014-2024: Prospects for Leading Companies provides details of several major programmes ongoing worldwide that it believes will provide substantial demand in the short term. However, the lead rotary-wing analyst highlights a likely shift in the market over the long term as programmes are completed. 

“Although our research points to several more years of growth in the military helicopter modernization market, companies seeking to capitalize on this growth should act fast, as opportunities in the market will begin to dwindle in the medium to long term,” said the lead analyst for the report.

The new report calculates that global spending on military helicopter modernization, upgrade and retrofit will amount to $5.04 billion in 2014, or the start of the forecast period covered by this report.
